I chose my bird what now?

Contact us through the message button located on the page of the bird you would like to adopt. Provide us with the bird species and ring ID of the bird you would like to put a deposit on. Birds will not be held without deposit so don't wait too long or you may miss out!

Placing a deposit:

We will provide you with details for placing a deposit to secure your bird, either through pay ID or bank transfer. Please be sure to attach the bird species and ring ID number to your payment so we can be sure we received it. Once we have received your deposit to secure your bird, we will mark it sold for you.

Please note that deposits are non-refundable if you should change your mind, as we would need to relist the bird and find a new home.

The time until pickup:

You will be kept up to date about the progress of your bird with weekly videos or photos. We love to see our babies grow up happy and healthy and to be able to share it with you. We cannot give an exact pick-up timeframe as each bird develops at their own pace, some needing long than others to wean. We will not release birds into their new home until they eat well on their own and have a healthy weight.

Although we give our best to give each of our babies the best start in life, sometimes due to their delicate nature things don't go as planned. If for any reason your baby should not be suitable for adoption due to underlying health issues or problems, we will let you know. You will then have the option of a refund of your deposit or to transfer it to a different bird.

Ready to go home- pickup time:

Once your baby is ready to go home, we will contact you to organise a pickup date and time. We give a maximum of 2 weeks for your bird to be picked up otherwise a weekly $20 fee will be charged for food and handling. If we do not hear from you after the 2-week period we will relist the bird for adoption. The longer your bird is with us after weaning, the less we can guarantee the tameness of your bird, as we have to put our focus on the new babies coming. Baby birds must be handled daily to ensure they stay tame, this takes a lot of time and effort. So, it is in your best interest to pick it up as soon as possible. The older a bird gets the harder it is to form a strong bond and for them to settle into their new home and environment.

Final payment:

The final payment will be expected upon pickup of your bird. We accept Pay ID or cash upon pickup; funds must be cleared before the bird is able to leave.

Taking your bird home:

Please be sure to bring a suitable transport or travel cage with you. We do not allow birds to go home in large bird cages as it poses a risk of injury if the bird gets a fright. If you do not have a transport cage let us know prior to pick up so we can organise a suitable option for you. We love our birds and want them to travel safely to their new home.
